Death Of Victim In DC Fire Ruled Homicide, ID Released By Police

The death of a 45-year-old woman in a Washington DC fire in October 2022 has been ruled a homicide, police announced.

Maria Lopez was among three victims rescued from the apartment building fire on the 1600 block of Park Road NW around 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2022, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Lopez died on Nov. 4, 2022, of complications of thermal and inhalation injuries, and ruled the manner of death a homicide. The two other victims survived.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating.

The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
